Ashok Vaswani was appointed as a director, managing director, and CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank on Friday by the board of the bank.

Vaswani’s nomination as the bank’s MD and CEO for a three-year term was authorized by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) last month.
Vaswani was named by the board of directors during their meeting on Friday to serve as the bank’s managing director, CEO, director, and key managerial staff for a three-year term beginning on January 1, 2024, Kotak Mahindra Bank said in a regulatory filing.
According to the statement, the bank’s members must approve this.
Vaswani, a new hire at Barclays, will take over for Uday Kotak, who resigned from his position as the bank’s MD on September 1.
Vaswani is currently the President of the US-Israeli AI fintech company Pagaya Technologies Ltd.
Along with his support of Lend a Hand and Pratham, he serves on the boards of the London Stock Exchange Group and the SP Jain Institute of Global Management in the UK.
Vaswani has a demonstrated 35-year history of building and expanding global businesses at scale, developing winning teams, forging transformative alliances, utilizing forward-leaning technology, and articulating a compelling business vision to generate significant bottom-line growth. These accomplishments were first made at Citigroup and, more recently, at Barclays.
