Drone manufacturers company Anadrone Systems to set up drone R&D centre in Odisha

Anadrone Systems, an Odisha-based target drone manufacturer, has announced the establishment of a cutting-edge R&D facility for advanced drones in Odisha. Anant Bhalotia, the Managing Director, made the announcement today at the ‘Odisha Make-In-India Conclave 2022’.

A brief about Drone manufacturers company Anadrone Systems to set up drone R&D centre in Odisha

The plant will be operational in six months, providing drone options for the domestic armed forces as well as export requirements. Simultaneously, the new facility will generate cash for the state while also providing different employment possibilities to the people of Odisha, so supporting the core pillars of the ‘Make-in-India’ drive.

Commenting on the purpose behind the announcement, Bhalotia said, “With this new factory, our effort is to become the leading partner to the armed forces in its test and evaluation of advanced weapons and systems and to maximise indigenization. At this centre, we see enormous possibilities for creating other systems such as surface and land targets.”

The new R&D centre will be able to create futuristic target drones like subsonic and supersonic targets. Its principal goal will be to become an all-encompassing destination for indigenous drones that meet national specifications, reducing the Indian economy’s reliance on imports. The announcement comes as a strategic growth move following the company’s earlier this year contract to supply the Indian Army and Air Force with 125 Manoeuvrable Expendable Aerial Targets (MEAT) and accompanying equipment worth Rs 96 crore.

Bhalotia also praised the Odisha government for encouraging entrepreneurs and strengthening the state’s indigenous defence manufacturing sector. “We are appreciative of the assistance provided by the Odisha Government under the ‘Make in Odisha’ programme, which is focused on supporting defence, aerospace, and other new-age industries,” he added.

Anadrone Systems has been making drones for over a decade, and their latest partnership with the UK-based defence-tech company has allowed the manufacturer to be a driving force behind the validation and induction of numerous SAM, AAM, Radars, and other weaponry to the MOD (Ministry of Defence).
