Pamela Chopra, the late playback singer and wife of late filmmaker Yash Chopra, passed away on Thursday in Mumbai at the age of 74. According to a social media post by Yash Raj Films, she was cremated in Mumbai at 11 am.

According to reports, she had been receiving treatment at Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital for the previous 15 days when she succumbed to age-related ailments.

Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning, the Chopra family would like to announce with deep hearts. In Mumbai, her cremation was performed at 11:00. In this time of extreme loss and introspection, we are grateful for your prayers, and the family would like to ask for privacy, according to a statement released by Yash Raj Films.

Pamela was a writer and a producer of films. She has contributed her voice to songs for a number of successful films, including Kabhie Kabhie, Noorie, Kaala Patthar, Silsila, Chandni, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and Mujhse Dosti Karoge!. She has also received credit for writing Kabhie Kabhie and designing the costumes for films like Silsila, both of which were made under the direction of her husband, Yash Chopra. 

She wed Yash Chopra in 1970, and the two of them had two sons: Aditya and Uday. 

Pamela’s most recent appearance was in the Netflix documentary series The Romantics, where she participated in various interviews that followed Yash Chopra and his Yash Raj Films throughout the years.
