The spokesperson of the top IT company responded to news stories about widespread layoffs by stating that anyone who fails the internal review will always lose their job.

Another employee, who started working at the company in August 2022, was quoted in the report as stating, “I started working at Infosys in August last year and I was given training for SAP ABAP stream. Only 60 of the 150 members of my team passed the FA exam. All of the rest of us were fired two weeks ago. Nearly 85 of the 150 freshmen from the prior group (onboarded in July 2022) were let go after failing the test.”

In January 2023, Wipro, another significant IT company in the nation, laid off 452 freshmen. Following the layoffs, Wipro issued a statement stating that in order to maintain a particular level for the company, every new employee must pass the internal assessment test.
