According to Moneycontrol, Prime Shopping Edition gives customers access to services including free shipping and same-day deliveries, which are identical to those available to Amazon Prime subscribers. It’s crucial to keep in mind that this new version does not grant access to Amazon’s entertainment features, such as Prime Video, Music, Reading, Gaming, and other similar offers. The full Amazon Prime package, which includes various entertainment services, is generally priced at Rs 1,499. However, there are sporadic promotions where the price drops to Rs 999.

This action by Amazon is a reaction to Flipkart’s recent launch of its VIP subscription plan, priced at Rs 499, designed to draw users looking for advantages comparable to those provided by Amazon Prime.

The Prime Shopping Edition tier is only accessible through the Amazon app or mobile browser on Android devices, according to the terms and restrictions. Given that India has over 650 million smartphone users, more than 85% of whom use Android-based smartphones, targeting Android users makes sense.

It is still unknown how long this offer will last and whether it will just be valid for certain occasions, such as the Great Indian Festival (GIF). Amazon has not made any official remarks on the situation.

Amazon had previously unbundled its Prime offerings in India. They debuted a Prime Video Mobile version plan for Rs 599 per year a year ago.

In what seems to be a fiercely competitive e-commerce sector, Amazon and Flipkart will square off during the festive season sale, which Prime Shopping Edition launches at the same time as. With a variety of alluring offers and services, both giants are vying for Indian consumers’ attention.
