As a result of the Balasore train catastrophe, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik offered free bus services from Puri, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack to Kolkata.

According to a release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), “CM Naveen Patnaik has announced free bus service to Kolkata from Puri, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack from today keeping in view the greater benefit of the commuters.”

The message went on to say that the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund would cover the entire expense and that the agreement would last until regular train service was resumed.

A 5 lakh rupee ex-gratia was announced earlier today for the families of those killed in the Balasore train tragedy.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said that individuals who suffered significant injuries would receive Rs 1 lakh in financial support.

According to sources, the railway accident victims are receiving medical care at a number of public and private facilities between Bhubaneswar and Balasore.

Notably, the catastrophic traffic collision resulted in over 1000 injuries and up to 288 fatalities.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the railway minister, stated that the accident’s primary cause and those guilty for it had been found after inspecting the repair efforts at the disaster site in Balasore, Odisha. Vaishnaw said that the alteration in electronic interlocking was what caused the tragedy.
