Zomato reported on Monday that 72% of its cash orders over the weekend, following the news of the withdrawal of the Rs 2,000 note, were paid for using the highest INR denomination.

The pullout of Rs 2000 notes has sparked a frenzy among the populace since it is being viewed as an extension of the demonetization, which is widely loathed. The RBI has made it clear that this is only a use limitation and not demonetization. The RBI has also given individuals until the end of September to deposit their Rs 2,000 notes in banks.

Zomato has not yet provided any additional information and has not yet responded to Business Today’s inquiries.

According to the RBI, the public would have access to the facility of exchange over the counter in the same way it did in the past for the exchange and deposit of notes.

Additionally, the banks will be required to keep daily records of the deposits and exchanges of Rs 2,000 banknotes. The identity of the individual who came to exchange or deposit, the date, the number of Rs 2,000 notes exchanged, the number of Rs 2,000 notes placed, and the total amount must all be kept on file by the banks.
