An image generation tool, an improved version of AI Test Kitchen, a YouTube green screen mode a la TikTok, and a tool that can produce movies summarising other footage are among Google’s AI projects, according to sources. The company’s PaLM-Coder 2 code generating tool is comparable to Microsoft’s GitHub Copilot programme and another that facilitates the creation of mobile apps, Colab + Android Studio.

According to reports, Google is also working on the “Shopping Try-on” function, a Pixel phone wallpaper maker, and AI-driven tools for developers to create Android apps.

This comes after the corporation revealed on Friday that it will be laying off 12,000 staff worldwide. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, stated in an email to staff, “I have some difficult news to deliver. We’ve made the decision to cut 12,000 roles from our staff.

“I really apologise for that. I bear full responsibility for the choices that brought us to this point because I am deeply concerned about how these changes will affect Googlers’ lives.
