In response to a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) brought by environmentalist Dibakar Behera, the court has requested a response from the department of fisheries and animal resources development.
The petitioner told the court that because of the increased pollution brought on by the usage of motor boats, birds are unwilling to approach the lake.
Instead of using machine boats, the court advocated using battery- and solar-powered vessels.
The next hearing on the subject has been scheduled for January 18.
