Details on in an OCCRP report, Adani Group is charged with hidden share trading

According to the OCCRP analysis, significant investments were made into the publicly listed equities of the Adani Group using “opaque” Mauritius money while allegedly concealing the participation of business partners connected to the Adani family.

This complaint follows those made previously by US-based short-seller Hindenburg Research, who said the group engaged in questionable business activities, including as manipulating stock prices.

The Adani Group denied the OCCRP’s allegations, calling them “recycled allegations” and well-timed attempts to damage their brand.

In a report, the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) accused the Adani Group of using “opaque” Mauritius funds to invest in its publicly traded companies. OCCRP asserted that these payments covered up the participation of purported Adani family business associates.

Investigative journalists from around the world work together as the OCCRP to uncover corruption. Funders of it include the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and George Soros’ Open Society Foundation (OSF). Note that George Soros previously supported the Hindenburg report, which raises concerns about PM Narendra Modi’s connections to Gautam Adani.

The Adani Group promptly denied the accusations made by OCCRP as being “recycled.” They characterized the study as a coordinated effort by groups connected to George Soros, supported by a portion of the international press, to bring back the “meritless” Hindenburg report. The conglomerate made a point of highlighting how suspicious, cunning, and evil the timing of the story was.

“We vehemently deny these old accusations. These news reports seem to be part of yet another coordinated attempt to resurrect the unreliable Hindenburg report by Soros-funded interests who are supported by a segment of the international media. In actuality, this was anticipated, as the media noted last week, according to Adani Group.
