According to a Railway Board directive, the Indian Railways will reduce the prices for the AC chair car and executive classes on all trains operating within India, including the Vande Bharat Express trains, by up to 25%. Depending on occupancy, the measure should benefit passengers who ride trains like the Vande Bharat Express, Shatabdi Express, Anubhuti, and Vistadome coaches. According to the Railway Board, the prices will also be determined by those of competing means of transportation. On special trains that are launched as holiday or festival specials, this plan will not be applicable.

According to a report on IANS, the rail ministry has agreed to give the primary chief commercial managers of railway zones the authority to implement discounted pricing programs on trains with AC seating in order to maximize the use of available space. According to a Railway Board directive, “This scheme shall be applicable in AC chair cars and executive classes of all trains having AC seating accommodation, including Anubhuti and Vistadome coaches.”
“The portion of the discount shall not exceed twenty-five percent of the basic ticket. Other fees, such as the reservation fee, the super fast premium, the GST, etc., will be assessed individually. According to occupancy, the discount may be offered in any or all courses, it stated.
Additionally, according to the directive, “classes with occupancy less than 50% (either end-to-end or in some specified legs/sections depending upon the sections where discount is to be provided) during the last 30 days shall be taken into consideration.”
As long as there is less than 50% occupancy on that leg, section, or entire trip, the discount can be applied to either the first or last leg, intermediate portions, or entire trip. “The discount shall go into effect right away. However, travellers who have already made reservations are not eligible for a fee return, it stated.
Flexi fare can be temporarily suspended in order to improve occupancy in trains where it is applicable in a certain class and there is a low occupancy rate.
