According to a Pentagon official, an accounting error led to the Pentagon overestimating the funding for the ammunition, missiles, and other equipment it provided to Ukraine by $6.2 billion, which is more than double the amount previously acknowledged.

Due to placing an unjustified high value on American weapons delivered to Ukraine, the accounting error’s worth was increased from the $3 billion that Reuters originally revealed in May.
According to Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh, additional cash was discovered after officials conducted in-depth investigation and established procedures for valuing equipment in accordance with Financial Management Regulation and Department of Defence policy.
She stated that the $6.2 billion would be divided into $3.6 billion for the fiscal year 2023 and $2.6 billion for the fiscal year 2022, adding that the inaccuracies had no bearing on the scope of the president’s ability to halt military aid to Ukraine.
