Today, Collinson, the owner and operator of Priority PassTM Access India, a premier domestic airport lounge and travel experiences program, announces a new relationship with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

Through this arrangement, eligible Indians with RuPay (a NPCI product) cards will be able to enter over 50 premium lounges and airport experiences in all of the country’s main cities by just tapping or swiping their RuPay card. Additionally, qualified RuPay cardholders will get access to a network of Indian train lounges.

This agreement is tailored specifically to better assist RuPay’s expanding portfolio of traveling cardholders as travel is rapidly returning and Indian travelers seek out more sophisticated experiences that are smooth, integrated, and offer value to their journeys.

Lounge access is the most desired travel perk at the airport, according to a recent Collison study that polled nearly 5,400 regular travelers across seven Asia Pacific markets (1,063 of whom were respondents residing in India). In India, 87% of travelers expect access to airport lounges as a premium card perk; 55% say it makes them feel “rewarded,” and another 52% say it makes them “feel valued as a customer.” Additionally, they place value on other travel experiences like meal discounts, lifestyle advantages like sleep pods, and access to exercise and health apps.

“Through Priority PassTM Access India, eligible RuPay cardholders can now improve their travel experience by taking advantage of a large network of upscale airport lounges and travel opportunities. According to Sumit Prakash, Country Director for India and South Asia at Collinson, we are looking forward to hosting them.

“We are thrilled to partner with Collinson to offer Priority PassTM Access India to our customers,” continued Denny Thomas, Head-RuPay, NPCI. Given that consumers rank lounge access as their top travel perk, we wanted to give our customers an experience they could enjoy whether they were traveling alone, with loved ones, or with coworkers for business. We decided to give this gift to our cherished cardholders to mark the return of group travel.
