According to Skoda Auto India, the brand sold 37,568 cars this year, the most ever for the company in India. The amount of sales exceeds the previous peak sales for the brand, which were 34,678 units sold by Skoda in 2012.

Given that 2022 still has four more months to go, the sales milestone is even more remarkable. Additionally, this indicates that after Germany and the Czech Republic, India is now the third-largest market for the Czech brand.
The brand sold 4,222 units in August 2022, an increase of 10% over the 3,829 units sold in the same month the previous year. The INDIA 2.0 project, which gave rise to items like the Slavia and the Kushaq, has been the main driver of the volume. Klaus Zellmer, the global CEO of Skoda Auto, has shared his opinions on the achievement and given some information about the country’s future roadmap.
Regarding Indian sales, Zellmer continued, “We have to build gradually. We must first consolidate our India 2.0 initiative before deciding the following stages, given our current market share and the requirement to maximise resources. It truly comes down to capability, resources that are accessible, and the changes that society, the market, and our group are going through.
The decision-making process will be based on all of these elements. In terms of the market categories we serve, Skoda products currently serve 20% of the Indian market. In the short term, we want to more than double this.
The India 2.0 project, which featured the launch of new made-for-India goods on the localised MQB-A0-IN platform, is responsible for the sales milestone. The Ocatvia, Superb, and Kodiaq have also helped to increase overall sales.
