The Tata group has a facility in Tamil Nadu that manufactures iPhone parts. The women employees at the Hosur company reportedly receive gross pay of around Rs 16,000, which is 40% more than the industry norm. Additionally, the employees will be fed and housed on campus. Tata intends to offer staff training and education.
Assembling iPhones in India will be made possible by a joint venture between Tata Group and Wistron in the electronics manufacturing industry. Foxconn, along with sister Taiwanese contract manufacturers Wistron Corp. and Pegatron Corp., has increased iPhone production in India as part of a move to diversify beyond the country amid China’s tension with the United States and strict Covid restrictions. The corporation wants to expand its supply chain in India and shift some of its operations away from China.
