In the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022, Kohli returned to form and finished as India’s top scorer and the second-highest run-getter with two fifties and a century. When he achieved the three-figure mark against Afghanistan, Kohli also ended a lengthy century-dearth in international cricket.

Kohli used to regularly score hundreds, but it took him 1019 days to reach his 71st tonne, which was also his first century in the game’s shortest format. Kohli also complimented team management and captain Rohit Sharma for allowing him to play whatever he wanted to during his century against Afghanistan.

Prior to the competition, Kohli had admitted that when he first began playing professional cricket, he went a month without touching his bat.

“I know there was a lot of activity outside, but they really maintained my perspective, and I also kissed my ring during the celebrations. Virat Kohli said after hitting six sixes and twelve boundaries in Dubai, “You see me standing like this right now and all the things are being put into perspective have been done by one person, who stood with me through all these terrible moments that is Anushka.

“This hundred is especially dedicated to her and also to Vamika, our young daughter. Time away from the game has taught me a lot when you have someone by your side, having chats, and helping you put things in the proper perspective like I have been doing with Anushka by my side during these moments.

The Indian squad will be grateful that Kohli’s first T20I century came before the T20 World Cup, which will be staged in Australia later this year.
