The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door was one of the vehicles unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023. The lifestyle 4X4 SUV was one of India’s most anticipated vehicles, and the manufacturer used the platform of Asia’s largest auto show to introduce the model and announce formal bookings.

At a booking price of Rs 11,000, the SUV has reportedly got 3000 pre-orders and currently has a three-month waiting list. The premium Indian carmaker has not yet disclosed the model’s pricing, but given that it is a sub-4-meter SUV, it is estimated to cost between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Maruti Suzuki Fronx was presented with the classic Jimny 5-Door.
With the launch of these two SUVs in India, the carmaker apparently hopes to gain a larger share of the segment. The five-door vehicle will come standard with four-wheel drive. It aims to be more functional and lightweight than its three-door counterpart.
The new Jimny will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol K15B engine with 103bhp and 130Nm. It will be paired with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. The same engine is used in the Ertiga, Ciaz, and the most modern Brezza.
In India, the SUV will initially be available in two variants: the Zeta and the Alpha. It will be sold in seven exterior colours: Sizzling Red, Nexa Blue, Granite Grey, Pearl Arctic White, Bluish Black, Sizzling Red with a bluish-black roof, and Kinetic Yellow with a black roof.
The Maruti Suzuki Jimmy will be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
