Shaadi.com, an online matchmaking service, has produced the first edition of India’s Most Eligible, a survey performed to discover what India wants in a life partner. Those aged 26 to 31 with a government job, a bachelor’s degree, and financial independence are considered the cream of the crop, according to the survey.

According to the report, India’s most eligible female is a law enforcement officer – sought twice as much as other females – while India’s most eligible guy works in the civil services – desired seven times as much as other males. Agriculture, on the other hand, is the least preferred occupation among both genders, trailing only non-working persons.
The least surprise conclusion, in keeping with Indian society’s expectations, was that men with more money are significantly more desired than other men, although for women, the difference is minimal across income brackets. Males earning 30 lakh per annually (l.p.a.) are 190% more desirable, whilst women earning 30 lakh per annum (l.p.a.) are 17% more desirable.
According to the survey, women earning less than 4 l.p.a. are the least desired by males in India.
“Although we are making progress towards gender equality in marriages, we still have a long way to go in terms of properly balanced relationships… “Aspects like increasing desirability for working women, particularly those with higher income, are early evidence that we are making significant achievements in bringing and maintaining women in the workforce,” said Adhish Zaveri, AVP marketing at People Interactive Pvt Ltd, which manages Shaadi.com.
The study drew on a sample of 2.5 million members (1.6 million men and 0.9 million women) who used Shaadi.com between December 1, 2021 and December 31, 2022.

People appear to be willing to wait a little longer for the ideal mate. The average age for marriage has risen for both men and women, by 2.5 years for males and one year for women. According to the survey, women are more likely to discover a match when they are 26-29 years old, and males when they are 28-31 years old.
People of all genders, however, are eager to give love another chance – Shaadi.com has over 6,500 active members over the age of 60. The platform’s oldest members are 79 years old (male) and 72 years old (female).
Finally, while men are equally likely to match with women across cities, women in the top ten cities “are most likely to match with men living in the top ten cities or men living abroad, and are least likely to match with men from Tier II and below.”
