During fashion week, luxury apparel manufacturer Diesel displayed their new Summer/Spring 2023/24 collection of denim garments themed on freedom, enjoyment, and experimentation, for which models walked around a mound of 2,00,000 Durex condom boxes, emphasising a safe-sex message to the guests.
The condom “mountain,” as Diesel termed it, was the highlight of the fashion show, which was intended to promote both the brand’s new collection and safe sex.
The brand’s Instagram post, which included photos of the models sitting amid a pile of condoms, read, “Creative Director Glenn Martens revisited Diesel’s core in his Fall Winter 2023 runway collection with moto denim, denim devore, distressed jersey, and pop prints.”
Diesel plans to distribute 3,00,000 boxes of condoms at stores throughout the world in April as part of the campaign. “We enjoy playing at Diesel and take it seriously. Have fun, respect one another, and be safe “Alan Martens, creative director, stated in a statement.
Models walked the runway wearing ultra-low-rise jeans, denim outfits with sheer mesh lace, ripped satin dresses tied together by slinky chains, puffer coats with huge designs, oversized denim shorts with knee-high boots, and faded denim-on-denim looks.
Men wore grey pinstriped jackets and trousers with creases and big sweatshirts, while women wore slinky ensembles attached with chains.
Another post by the brand stated, “Freedom, pleasure, exploration, play: Diesel stands for democracy, choice, and sex positivity as a human right.”
Milan Fashion Week started on February 21 and will end on February 27, 2023.
