The development of an electronics manufacturing cluster between Kongara Kalan and Raviryal has been planned by the state government. According to press reports, the K. Chandrasekhar Rao administration wants to attract more businesses, assist the state’s electronic manufacturing industry in generating Rs 2.5 lakh crore in income, and add 16 lakh new jobs.

Foxconn has agreed to build a 300-acre iPhone manufacturing close to Bengaluru, according to Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai, who made the announcement in the first week of March. This facility would create one lakh jobs. The biggest maker of contract electronics in the world and a key supplier of Apple iPhone components is Foxconn. On Saturday, the chief minister of Karnataka announced that the corporation would receive almost 300 acres of land close to Kempegowda International Airport.

A similar announcement regarding Foxconn’s plans for his state was made by Telangana CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao at approximately the same time.

Previous claims of additional investments in both states had been refuted by the semiconductor giant, who also noted that Foxconn Chairman Young Liu had visited Hyderabad on March 2 but said no decisions had been made. Nonetheless, news media emphasised Liu’s pledge to invest $700 million in Karnataka.

“On this tour, Foxconn has not signed any legally enforceable, binding agreements for new investments. There are continuing discussions and internal reviews. The financial investment amounts discussed in the media do not correspond to the information Foxconn is disclosing, the business stated last week.

The commitment to establish the facility in the state was made official by Liu in a letter to Telangana Chief Minister KCR on March 6.

Liu said in his letter that “Foxconn is committed to establishing a manufacturing plant in Kongara Kalan as agreed with you during our discussion on March 2 and I ask the help of your team in operationalizing the Kongara Kalan Park as soon as possible.

The Chief Minister’s Office made a copy of the March 6 letter public (CMO).

Foxconn’s decision to build a semiconductor facility in Gujarat rather than Maharashtra in 2022 sparked a political uproar as well.
