The State Government has announced that supporters with match tickets would be able to travel free of charge in ‘Mo Bus’ buses in the host towns of Bhubaneswar and Rourkela during the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup.

While the ‘Mo Bus’ service will begin in Rourkela in January, it is being expanded in the capital city.

Yesterday, the organizing committee of the international sporting event, co-chaired by Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, President Hockey India Dilip Tirkey, and the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), reviewed the preparations of various state Departments and districts for the successful conduct of the Hockey World Cup.

Stadium preparation, connectivity, hospitality, community outreach, safety and security, traffic and crowd control, World Cup celebrations and city festivals, hospitality, and medical plans were among the topics discussed.

It was revealed that the Department of Sports and Youth Services has set aside Rs 75 crore for the Hockey World Cup for the fiscal year 2022-23.

The FIH has already certified the four turfs: two freshly re-laid turfs at Kalinga Hockey Stadium and two new turfs (main and practice) laid at Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium. Both stadiums’ lighting systems have also been certified and are operating.

The teams’ facilities in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela were evaluated. The Teams will be transported between Bhubaneswar and Rourkela on dedicated planes. Commercial flights to Rourkela are scheduled to begin soon as the requisite licenses are obtained.

The security procedures, as well as traffic and parking management, were thoroughly discussed to ensure that the spectators had a safe, secure, and smooth experience.

The Hockey World Cup Celebrations event in Cuttack on January 11th was also well analyzed.

The 5T Secretary to Chief Minister VK Pandian conveyed the CM’s instruction that the celebrations be organized in a spectacular way across all districts, incorporating communities, schools, institutions, and so on. There will be prizes for the best-performing districts, it was stated. The Collectors were consulted about the arrangements for the municipal and district-level events. The Trophy Tour will visit all of Odisha’s districts.

Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, the host cities, are being modernized and beautified in preparation for the Hockey World Cup. It was mandated that all work be finished as soon as possible.

The Organising Committee was pleased with the development of the works. All of the authorities there were asked to give their all in order to make the Hockey World Cup a huge success.
