GST E-Invoice Portal Glitches made Users to face Trouble in the Login & Upload of Invoices

For a few hours this afternoon, the Goods and Services e-Invoice Portal was down. Numerous practitioners posted about the issue to the GSTN’s official Twitter account. When attempting to log in or create invoices, a message on the screen stating “Sorry, an error occurred while performing your request” occurs.

The issue faced by tax experts was discussed in the tweets that followed, but the department’s only concrete response was to advise raising a ticket.

We are now having problems with IRN “Application Error” generation, and even the e-invoice gateway is not working.

The stakeholders had complained about other instances of defective portals. The default response, as described below, was provided by the GSTN in the official Twitter handle to the majority of tweets about the issue.

“Dear XXXXXXX XXXX, we apologise for the trouble this has caused. To assist us in resolving the issue, kindly open a ticket at https://selfservice.gstsystem.in with the necessary screenshots and provide the ticket number via Direct Message.

In addition to the e-Invoice Portal crash, certain additional problems appeared in the portal, such as the inability to file GSTR-1.

Instead, the GST e-invoice portal is a platform created by the Indian government to make it easier for companies that have registered for the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime to generate electronic invoices. The site is a part of the government’s broader effort to automate, simplify, and lighten the regulatory burden on businesses through the GST reporting process. Yet, during times like these, the significant expenditure of Rs. 1379.70 Crores for GST Portal Development and Maintenance, which was disclosed in an RTI filing, is unwarranted and leaves stakeholders attempting to comply with the law with a disappointing experience.

By 4:45 PM, the GSTN appeared to have resolved the Portal issue, which had disrupted the professionals’ ability to work for more than three hours.
