According to the government website, the Ministry of Jal Shakti of the Government of India established the National Water Awards.

Vice President of Global CSR at HCL Foundation Nidhi Pundhir described the organization’s involvement in numerous water conservation initiatives across India. In her statement, she stated that “HCLTech is committed to water stewardship and supports sustainable, scalable, and innovative solutions in the use and treatment of water.”

“This award reinforces our efforts to ensure equitable and viable water stewardship with a range of long-term programs, prioritizing water sustainability and community involvement in rural and urban areas in India,” Pundhir continued.

It is important to note that the IT services firm has restored over 200 water features and collected 57.9 billion liters of water thus far.

Campaigns to increase biodiversity along the Ganga’s catchment by planting Rudraksha and other indigenous plants in Uttarakhand are only a few of the company’s endeavors.

Other projects include restoring the Periyar Canal in Kerala, eliminating invasive species from the Vaigai Riverbed in Madurai, installing rooftop rainwater harvesting structures in corporation schools in Noida and Madurai, and assisting poor farmers in the Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh convert their wastelands into arable land using small-scale rainwater harvesting techniques.

The Jal Shakti Ministry made a point of highlighting how HCLTech’s water conservation efforts complement the Jal Shakti Abhiyan Program of the Indian government. The Jal Shakti Abhiyan Program aims to improve groundwater recharge through refilling water sources, protecting water bodies, and boosting green cover. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations are also addressed by these actions, particularly SDG 6 (clean water and sanitation) and SDG 15 (life on land).
