The battery box in one coach of the Bhopal-Delhi Vande Bharat Express caught fire this morning, in the latest incident involving a Vande Bharat train. There have been no reports of injuries among the passengers.

Around 8 a.m., the tragedy occurred at the Kurwai Kethora station in Madhya Pradesh. The train departs Bhopal at 5.40 a.m. and arrives at Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin station at 1.10 p.m.

Smoke billowed out from around the wheels, according to images from the scene. A fire department quickly extinguished the fires, and an investigation was launched.

According to officials, the fire was contained to the battery box. Railway officials stated that the train will depart for the national capital as soon as the technical assessment is completed.

Vande Bharat was previously in the news for running over livestock. According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw’s address to parliament, Vande Bharat trains were responsible for 68 animal collisions between June and December last year.

The train was also in the news for a number of incidents in which stones were hurled at it.
