Details on Praful Patel claims Ajit group leaders met Sharad Pawar for the first time after the revolt and asked him to keep the NCP intact

Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, and several leaders from his camp who engineered a split in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to join the Eknath Shinde-led government, met NCP supremo Sharad Pawar at his residence a day before the start of the state Assembly’s monsoon session.

Following the meeting at Mumbai’s YB Chavan Centre, NCP leader Praful Patel stated that they had solicited Sharad Pawar’s blessings as well as his help in keeping the party intact.

“We had arrived voluntarily and without having sought his appointment.” We asked Sharad Pawar to keep the party united and to guide us in the next months. “He didn’t respond,” he said. “We will participate in the Assembly session beginning tomorrow under the leadership of Ajit Pawar,” Patel stated.

Jitendra Awhad and Jayant Patil of the Sharad Pawar group were also present at the meeting. “The NCP ministers expressed regret for the incidents and asked Pawar saheb to find a solution.” Patil stated, “He did not respond to their requests.”

Earlier in the day, Ajit Pawar met with ministers from his NCP faction and advised them not to criticize those who remain loyal to Sharad Pawar, according to sources. “He (Ajit) stated that now that we are in power, there will be criticism from NCP MLAs who support Sharad Pawar.” Despite this, we do not need to fight them in the same way. Instead, it would be prudent not to use derogatory language or target MLAs with whom we have worked for many years,” a minister told The Indian Express.

This was Sharad Pawar’s first meeting with the party led by Ajit Pawar after he rebelled against his uncle on July 2. Ajit Pawar had gone to Silver Oak, the NCP supremo’s official residence, two days ago to see his aunt Pratibha Pawar after she was discharged from the hospital following surgery.
