The embassy stated that there is a high demand for visas across all categories and that wait times may also be longer for the majority of non-immigrant visa appointments at the embassy in New Delhi and the consulates in Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai due to reduced staffing and pandemic-related disruptions in operations since March 2020.

The Department of State authorised consular officers to waive the in-person interview requirement for certain categories of visa applicants—F, H-1, H-3, H-4, non-blanket L, M, O, P, Q, & academic J visas—until December 31, 2022, as the embassy resumed processing routine in-person B1 and B2 visa appointments.

Indians in Delhi must wait 833 calendar days before applying for a US visitor visa.

Waiting times for non-immigrant visas now exceed two years.

The wait time for a US visa for Indians may now exceed two years due to the relaxation of Covid travel restrictions. The waiting period in Delhi is 390 calendar days for all other non-immigrant visas, 430 calendar days for student/exchange visitor visas, and 833 calendar days for visitor visas.

In Mumbai for Visitor visas, the waiting period is 848 calendar days and for Student/Exchange Visitor visas it takes 430 calendar days and for all other non-immigrant visas the waiting time is 392 calendar days .

The waiting period for Visitor visas is 767 calendar days, for Student/Exchange Visitor visas it takes 444 calendar days and for all other non-immigrant visas the wating time is 360 calendar days in Kolkata.
