From Master Canteen Square to Ram Mandir Square, thousands of people, including young children and old residents, flocked to Janpath early in the morning to celebrate in the open space as vehicular traffic was suspended for four hours between 6 and 10 am.

Participants in the event came from all walks of life and participated in a variety of activities, including walking, cycling, physical activity, sporting competitions, and cultural programmes. The street hockey game played by the kids near Ram Mandir was attended to and appreciated by many foreign tourists who were in the city for the Hockey World Cup.

During the festival, a few volunteer organisations planned unique children’s activities like games, painting, quizzes, and cultural programmes.

On December 9 and 16, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), and Odisha Tourism-organized weekly street celebration will also take place as part of the Bhubaneswar City Festival for the World Cup Hockey. On Sunday, it got off to a rousing start, serving as a timely reminder that the street is theirs.

The Raahgiri event was created in January 2016 to encourage healthy activities among Capital residents. It was afterwards renamed “Patha Utsav.”
