The ambulance driver in this little coastal town who stopped his car on the way to the hospital and handed his injured client a drink while pouring himself another seemed to live by the adage, “Drink your way to health.”

In social media videos that have gone viral, the ambulance driver can be seen parking his car on the side of a highway in the Tirtol area and preparing pegs of what appears to be vodka for himself and the patient.
The patient, who had one leg plastered, sipped his beer while lying down on the stretcher, while the driver was observed downing his peg in one swallow.
Bystanders recorded the unusual encounter and posted the recordings on social media, bringing it to light.
When spectators questioned the driver, he responded that the patient had requested a drink on his own. In the ambulance, there was also a mother and a young child. PTI was unable to independently confirm the video’s veracity.
Dr. Kshetrabasi Dash, the chief district medical officer (CDMO) for Jagatsinghpur, stated to PTI, “We don’t have much to say because it was a private ambulance. However, the offending driver must be penalized by the RTO and the nearby police station.” Residents of the region are furious over the incident and have demanded an investigation into it as well as harsh punishment for the ambulance driver.
No formal complaint has been made, according to the inspector in charge of Tirtol Police Station Jugal Kishore Das, and a probe won’t start until an FIR is filed.
But drunk driving is regarded as a traffic infraction.
